Off The Record: Bumping Your Gums

It was this one time, it had to be about 84. My man and his girl owned a arcade up the block on 8th. He was in the street, she was a good girl but she always had a rep for fucking with street niggas. Anyway. They met young and hit off. She ended up becoming his wife. You know she was a good girl.. had her shit together, school, good job, kept herself up, but she knew all the street niggas just from being around, you know. You don't have to be in the street, to be a street girl. But yea so they had a couple spots, laundromat, arcade, corner store.. but the arcade was like they money maker. It was the arcade in the day, for the kids, but at night.. shit even during the day, it was a gambling a spot. And I don't know if its true but, they said he used to stash all the work.... inside the games.

This was 84', so you know, cops wasn't really up on shit. How niggas was moving the work in and out, or how they stashed it. Shit.. keep it 100, niggas, wasnt really worried about the police like that. We was more so lookin out for the stick up kids. Dey were the ones doing funny shit like, dressing up like undercover police, come in take ya shit or they just come in on some hoodie and mask shit.

Anyway, the arcade was their money spot.. kill'in them. Games for kids in the hood. Selling work. Gambling spot. They was rocking you know. But I guess the fast life got to shorty head. She start puffing her chest out and start talking reckless to some of the niggas that was around. Like official niggas. Like niggas thats been there since day one, holding it down, moving work, securing the spot, letting it ring if they have to, you know. And she talking down to these niggas and they starting to look at him, like "yo, get your wife". But he never said nofin... and that made some niggas back off. They stopped coming around. Stopped buying work. Talkin behind niggas backs. But she not noticing. She involved but not really. Her name just on the paper.. So I guess shorty really start smelling herself and started bumping her gums to other niggas.

One night she in the little after hours spot on Lenox, up on thirtyfif. Whats that shit called, Lorraines?... Step In's? na step in's the shit in the Bronx. But anyway, she up there talking reckless to some niggas from up there. And I dont know if she knew the niggas, or who she was talking to or if she just didnt give a fuck, but she was talking wild to one of them Smith brothers. You ever heard of the Smith brothers? ova there from Bradhurst? Yea, them niggas was laying shit down back in the day. It was 4 of'em. All wild. Kidnapping niggas, extortin niggas.. crazy shit man. I heard one got killed in like 95 on some out of town shit, two of'em just came home from after doing a dub. And the other one, I don't what happen to that nigga. But anyway, yea she was up there talkin crazy.. now this what I heard, she was like "you pussy nigga....you this, you that" and he like "you aint gon do nofin to prove it" and then she threw a drink at him. This nigga hauls off and japps her in the mouf, and then says "now go get your nigga". Mind you, this nigga already on parole.. he just came home... So she run her ass outta there, holdin her shit... all that street shit went out the window (clapped and slid his hands). She runs straight to the precinct. She pressing charges. Didn't call nobody, come back to the block, nofin!

But you know back then, if you catch a case, shit like that take time. Like it might be a little minute before your P.O get wind of some bullshit you did so niggas still be moving around. But he got wind of her pressing charges. So I heard he was like "yo if I get violated that arcade aint neva gonna open again". Now niggas is on point, know what I'm saying. Now my man in a bad spot. First your bitch get punched in her face by a nigga thats known for bodies.. How you gonna handle that?.. Then she go and press charges on the nigga, and if he go down for it, thats fuckin up bidnes, how you handle that? Or!...he might just come back and try to clip her and make it all go away... how you handle that?

Now if you him, no matter how this play out, you look like a bitch. If you tell your girl to drop the charges you a bitch in her eyes and them niggas eyes... and if she don't drop the charges, now you at war because your bitch can't keep her mouf shut.
